This course features a series of brilliant talks by the HEARRING experts that were recorded during the 17th International Conference on Cochlear Implants and Other Implantable Technologies, which took place in February 2024 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.

Prof. Dr. Sumit Agrawal delivers a great lecture on the inner ear anatomy and the apical region, delving into the aspects of synchrotron phase-contrast imaging, place-based coding and angular insertion depth.

Prof. Dr. Paul Van de Heyning gives an insightful presentation on the topic of Electro-physiology of the apical region. He focuses on the psycho-acoustic evaluation of apical electric stimulation, showcases the electric-acoustic pitch comparisons in single-sided-deaf cochlear implant users and looks into the apical stimulation and speech reception in noise as well as music appreciation.

Prof. Dr. Javier Gavilán elaborates on the role of electrode selection in structure preservation, the latest developments in structure preservation surgeries for cochlear implant patients as well as the cases of complications of electrode arrays.

Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Hagr talks about the importance of Quality Standards and shares some great tips on how to apply them within your clinical practice based on the successful experience in his clinic in Saudi Arabia.

Prof. Dr. Lassaletta talks about the value of hearing screening in adults, focusing on its main benefits and the importance of timely checkups.

Prof. Dr. Rudolf Hagen talks about the long-term clinical outcomes in Cochlear Implant users with residual hearing analyzing several international studies that explore the notions of electric-acoustic stimulation, genetic background and partial insertion.

PhD MSc AUD Ellen Andries investigates the multicenter study on International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health in patients with Cochlear Implants, which involved several HEARRING centers. She explains the ways and benefits of applying the ICF model in the treatment of cochlear implant patients.
