This is an excellent course for ENT professionals whose mission is to preserve the natural hearing of their patients in the best possible way.

To begin with, Prof. Agrawal looks into the high-resolution CT scans of synchrotron and draws conclusions about the optimal electrical stimulation. Then Prof. Van de Heyning talks about the benefits of the apical region stimulation. To follow up, Dr. Kurz elaborates on the variability in cochlea size and spatial frequency distribution as well as why all the electrodes need to be stimulated according to the placement. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Radeloff presents clinical data showing what can be heard on the most apical electrode contact, if stimulated with high frequency. Then we have Prof. Lorens examine the consequences of having a long electrode and the possibility to stimulate the second turn in context of single-sided deafness, and also show impacts on the quality of life. Furthermore, Prof. Lassaletta explains why the time of evaluation of Quality of life is crucial, clarifying the correlation between hearing and quality of life and the expectations of patients. To continue with this concept, Prof. Hagen explores music perception and its effect on the quality of life in CI recipients, analysing the benefits of musical training. To conclude,  Prof. Skarzynski goes deeper into the musical theme looking into the benefits of music therapy and music training.
