This program aims to bridge the knowledge gap by equipping ENT doctors with the essential skills and expertise to evaluate hearing loss and by providing surgeons the knowledge to perform otologic surgical procedures. By enhancing their ability to manage ear disorders effectively, the program seeks to improve the quality of care and patient outcomes. Additionally, it aims to cultivate an interest in advanced techniques and inspire participants to specialize further in hearing implantation.

The program is designed for ENT doctors and residents in African countries who are eager to expand their skills and knowledge in otologic assessment, procedures, surgery, and hearing implantation. It targets those already practicing in the ENT specialty who wish to gain proficiency in otologic surgical techniques to offer comprehensive ear care services. The program also appeals to ENT doctors interested in continuous professional development and contributing to the advancement of otology in Africa. 

» Program Objectives 

By the end of this program, participants will be able to: 

• • Understand the anatomy and physiology of the temporal bone and related structures. 

• • Recognize common ear and hearing disorders and their clinical presentations. 

• • Develop proficiency in basic otologic surgical techniques. 

• • Gain knowledge about postoperative care and potential complications. 

• • Identify suitable candidates for hearing implants and understand the principles behind implantation procedures. 

• • Acquire the skills necessary to perform temporal bone dissections. 

• • Properly understand and interpret various audiological tests and analyze temporal bone radiology.
